Norman Castro (Omaha ADAM Club) has long been known for his reduced copies of software manuals and game instructions for the ADAM and several other computer/game systems. He is a master at the art of crisp, clear reduction. In the past year or so, Norman has expanded his reduction work to include copies of early ADAM newsletters, as fast as he can obtain reprint permission. Most of his items sell for $2 to $3 each, but he offers special rates on complete sets. The early newsletters are of special interest to collectors, or to clubs trying to build a complete library. Most recently, Norman has obtained permission to reprint THE ADAM TECHNICAL JOURNAL and THE GARDEN OF ADAM, both of which are true collector's items inasmuch as there were only a few issues printed of each. He also sells early copies of Alan Neeley's superb ADAMLINK of Utah newsletter. If there is ANY type of documentation you are missing, or that you want for your collection, contact Norman (as always when writing vendors, please include a SASE!)

Also, if you are not a subscriber to Norman's bimonthly newsletter, WHY NOT? At $5 a year, it's a steal. It's only a few pages, but it's jam-packed with information (it's reduced, of course!) It's sort of the Reader's Digest of the ADAM world. I am always amazed at how much he crams in.
^
Old-timers have heard this before, but we have a number of new members, so let's repeat it for them: There are two very fine newsletters that you can get for only $5 annually. The other is Puget Sound's monthly NEWSNET. Yes, that means 12 issues for just $5! It's very well-done, beautifully printed, easy on the eyes; a bargain any way you look at it.

If you have been waiting for the price of chips to come down before buying a 64k memory expander, now is your chance. Terry Fowler of ADAM'S HOUSE has them on sale for only $29.95. That's the cheapest they've been in some time. Also, if you need just the chips themselves, you can pick them up from Terry for only $4

L.O.F. Communications offers several ADAM products, mostly manuals and volumes of pre-drawn graphics. They also offer a photo-digitizing service. You can send them a photo and have it converted to a format that can be read by the computer, for use in BASIC programs or graphics design. Their catalog does not list prices, but offers to send information regarding which types of photos digitize well, and which don't. Ask for their photo order form.

Some of our members picked up the March issue of Vulcan Computer Buyers Guide, only to find that there was no ADAM information therein. Faye Deere has assured me that this was an isolated case. Magazine production was disrupted during a move to new offices, and the article for that issue was lost. The articles have returned with this month's issue. Furthermore, the index has been improved so that Classic Computer information is easier to find. According to Faye, the new format will be the policy from now on.

Faye has made rather extensive changes to the SORTER program we printed last month, and has promised us a copy of her revised version as soon as it's complete.

George Drank has compiled a Recipe Filer volume from recipes sent by club members. MOAUG RECIPE FILER is now available from the Public Domain librarian, and copies have been sent to each contributor. Recipes include: Apple Crisp, Broiled Bluefish, Cheese Pie, Cheery Cheesecake, Chicken Divan, Chocolate Silk Pie, Coconut Thumbprints, Corn Chowder, Crab Imperial, Surprise Beef Nuggets, Texas Sheet Cake, and many others. There are even regional specialties such as Sausage Grits! (Note: You MUST have either Recipe Filer or SmartFILER to access the recipes.)
^
We can't have George resting on his laurels, though. How about digging out YOUR favorite recipes for Volume Two? Every contributor gets a free copy of the finished volume. No special form is required; recipes can be submitted in typed or printed form. George does the actual data entry. And, you don't need to be a MOAUG member to participate; we welcome recipes from other groups, too. Just think what a cross-section we'd have if every AUG on the continent submitted a few regional favorites!

Of course, if our foreign correspondents wish to contribute, we might end up with an international volume! Keith Marner of the United Kingdom group recently wrote that he has been contacted by two different ADAM users in URUGUAY! (Can UAUG be far behind?)

It has been about a year since we last heard from "adopted" MOAUG member Gregg Noblett. Gregg and Michele visited us from New Jersey on two consecutive summers, and they were considering moving to the area; but then they dropped out of sight. So, I was very happy to hear from them. They have been living life in the fast lane, so to speak; career changes, moving house, and all that left little time for communication. They're still busy, but they're fine; the big surprise is that they are expecting their first child this summer. (In fact, the baby is due at just about the time of ADAMCON 2.) Gregg did not mention whether he was still programming for the ADAM; I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Meanwhile, their new address is:
